Why Angels?
If God is unfathomably deep, and all-knowing and all-powerful and everywhere at once, and the ultimate leader in multitasking, does he really need angels?
No. He doesn’t. He doesn’t need angels.
I know. I know. It’s a shocking thing to say.
Remember, we are all itty bits of God, that God has imbued with free will.
We are the Toddlers that God has set loose in the great mall of life. We’re kicking in doors and knocking down tables and making messes of things.
And God loves that, because we are learning and because God is infinitely patient.
Angels exist so that we have somebody that we can feel comfortable talking with.
An analogy
When my kid, Rubin, was 4, he had a tiger puppet.
This puppet was really popular with Rubin.
So popular, in fact, that there were times when Rubin was really ticked off at me, and he had to talk to the puppet, (which was attached to my arm, which meant I was in hearing range).
Rubin: “Tiger, Mommy took the hammer away, and I’m mad.”
Tiger: “Well, Mommy doesn’t want you or the wall to get hurt.”
Rubin: “Those holes are places for me to put my treasures.”
Tiger: ”Let me tell you about this little thing called a RENTAL DEPOSIT.”
It’s the Same with Angels
God is big, and God freaks us out. Angels are holy and know a lot, but they are there to help us. It’s their job.
So are they real?
Yes, to us. And really, they are only as real as we are.

Words, come easy.
