Ritual: Pick Your Color for 2010
Every year, Pantone picks a color to represent the coming year.
On December 7th, they chose PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise.

From the Pantone site: In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”
Cool. I like it.
Our Energetic Bodies Love Color
Each chakra has a traditional color associated with it. I often see other colors in the chakras, as well. I find it comforting, surprising and joyful to find that the ring that I wear on my ring finger (the one associated with the heart) has a green stone in it (coincidentally matching the green of my heart chakra). When I’m getting ready to speak in public, I gravitate towards aqua or turquoise (since that is the color of the throat chakra and I want very much to communicate effectively).
Now, here’s a ritual that you can do to color your 2010. Pick your color.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, clear your mind and then say “my color for 2010 is ______________”.
A color will come forward.
Or- Try this interesting test from ColourLovers: Choose your color of the year.
Then come back and comment here about what color you’ve picked, and I’ll tell you, energetically, what it might mean for you!
I’ll share my color of the year too. It’s vibrant.

This one’s mine:

My color is a deep but vibrant purple — closer to the blue end then the red end but a splash of that, too.
My colour is a bright, light, spring leaf green. To me this is the colour of HOPE because its the colour of the very very first buds of leaves when the long winter is over…
what else does it mean?
You told me once that this color was my communicating color. I’ve been drawn to it the last 1/4 of 2009. I guess I’ll keep it up! <3
Ooh, I’ve got a purple too Sara…more along the electric blue end of the range, I named it Purple Haze.
Karol- What’s your color, exactly?
pantone 1925, a bright pinky red
Mine is very close to yours, only with a touch of ‘holy shit that’s bright’.
I saw/thought purple but fuchsia was it, bright fuchsia :0 )
Mine was a deep indigo, with some violet in it too.
Or I’ll Never: http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/296/Or_Ill_never
Orange. Deep red-orange. I didn’t even have to think about it.

Hey everybody so far- Your colors are here!

My color was Azure Doorway…http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/305/azure_doorway
My color was yellow. Just a normal, ordinary, every day, yellow. Kind of like the Crayola crayon yellow.
Mine is a deep, forest green: http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/306/Renewal
Thank you for the amusing post!
My color is pale blue…like the sky.:)
My color is maroon. For some reason I was expecting teal. That popped into my head before I started, but then I got maroon oddly enough.
I got a deep, rich blood red. I didn’t find it on the pantone chart and Colour Lovers didn’t fit either. The closest example I can think of is the darkest mane area of this …

And dark red is not usually a favorite of mine, in fact towards the maroon end is one that I actually dislike, but come to the rich red side and I like it.
Yay, what fun!
My color shall be yellow.

Mine is a bright fiery marigold orange! Like the kind of orange you see in a bed of flowers standing out like flame against the green behind. Awesome!
Here’s my color: http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/321/Sunshiny_Yellow
And my description:It’s vibrant, clear and warm, like sunshine on a summer afternoon. It warms the body and the soul. It’s invigorating, happy, and joyful
Uh, like this: http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/327/Marigold_Flame

I swear I didn’t read this comment thread before I did this. Interesting the trends!
This is my color of the year:
http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/329/Pop_Goes_The_Teal
The name of this color is Pop Goes The Teal and I think is an apt description for the year ahead. It’s a slightly lighter, brighter shade of traditional teal, is a bit more on the green side, sort of a melon color, and reminds me of late spring/early summer. I think it’s a very energizing yet relaxed color quite symbolic of the fact I’m settled in myself, yet up for a challenge and ready to learn and move forward.
Lime Paper Fight is my color for 2010. It means expansion, creativity and fulfillment. Thats what that means, in case you thought differently, as I first did. Now I see that Colour Lovers was right, that Lime Paper Fight will powerfully carry me forward into 2010! LIME PAPER FIGHT, LIME PAPER FIGHT!
My color is more of a golden yellow.
My color is Old Gold
How fun! My color was a maroon red

Gahhhh! Pick *just one*?? Oh my!
Warm red-gold, like gold leaf over a red base…
Here’s “Firebird Flower” at colourlovers – what a fascinating site!

Not quite what I just described, but it feels right.
My color was supernovaV. It is the color that I always see when meditaing or giving Reiki. Sometimes it changes to a purple pink, but mostly it is this vibrant blue. http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/335/SupernovaV
BRIGHT GREEN. LIME GREEN. Sort of suprised me since this has long been (in my mind) my signature color. So now I have to also go to the website you recommend and find what they say.
http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/339/Lioness
I even named it after myself.
My color is Pantone 321 a bright green with blue and white in it. It’s kind of a retro green like you’d see in home dec during the arts and crafts period, often used as an accent with chocolate brown.
A vibrant shade of teal =)
Hey everybody! All of the answers so far are here: http://www.bridgetpilloud.com/blog/2009/12/a-colorful-new-year/
Funny! Not too long ago, I had an intense dream where a mystical person said I drew my strength from turquoise, which is a color and stone I wear often!
But I went to the colourlovers site and ended up with something unexpected:

p.s. Pantone’s idea of turquoise looks like TEAL to me.
Here we go:

My favorite color is purple, but when I thought about a color, forest/pine green. I’m not sure I could pick a PMS color. Go figure, the designer can’t decide.
mine are always green or purple … not much else likes to come through..
sometimes black & white disco strobe lights.. (whatever that is about)
I’ve been so surprised lately I find myself wearing an almost lime green, chartreuse maybe? If you’d asked me a year ago ICK ~ but it sure draws me these days.
I tried the Color-of-the-Year meditation a couple weeks ago and saw a great dusty rose sort of color. Then I couldn’t stay online, and so I just did it again, and it was the same. So it has to be right… Here’s the color: http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2010/585/abundant_rose except in “reality” it looks better.
If you know what I mean!
