This morning, as I was waking, my angels said, “Pray for Mike __________ .”
“Mike ___________?” I said.
“Yes.”
I haven’t thought about Mike in a long time.
Mike is a team penner. In team penning, two people on horseback use their horses to move cattle into a small pen. Whoever is fastest wins. His team penning nickname is “Whip and Spurs” because that’s what he does to his horse to win.

So how do you put the past away?
Here’s how you stop having a bad childhood.
Remember, yesterday, when I said that much of the pain we feel about our bad childhoods is because what happened wasn’t right? It wasn’t fair? And we were too small or too awkward to make it right?
So, you take the smart, capable grown-up that you are now, and you go back to the scene and re-live it and you make it right.
Because whatever you were supposed to get out of that, the lesson that the universe saw …
Do you ever experience the situation where you’re enjoying a nice cocktail party and then someone says, “I had a bad childhood,”
And then she tells a story about how:
her parents traded in the christmas presents for vodka
or got rid of her dog
or told her that she wasn’t as pretty or smart as her sister?
As she says this, do you look around the table, and see the faces of your friends who want to reach across the table and slap her, because their childhoods were SO MUCH WORSE?
